The
Support Center guides students in social
skill learning. After problem solving about a concern, the
student is sometimes asked to finish a task in the
Reflection Room.
The Reflection Room is designed to
provide a quiet environment for students to think through
inappropriate choices and create plans which will allow more school
success. It can also be an appropriate setting for a "cool
down".
Accountability and Thinking
Before You Act are two important concepts which are
explored during the problem solving process.
The Superflex character from
Social Thinking has helped many
children connect with their ability to become
flexible thinkers. Children
learn to think of different solutions and strategies for
everyday problems.
The use of our Is this a
BIG DEAL? chart is another tool
which introduces ways for students to deal with hurt
feelings and/or frustrations.
Problem Solving forms are sometimes sent
home to promote family discussion about how some incidents can be
handled differently.
Children are complimented on their problem solving skills and
encouraged to have the self confidence needed to make good
choices and be responsible citizens.
